Kathy Atcherson is a Licensed Practical Nurse at Fort Belvior Community Hospital in Virginia. She is currently assigned at the Family Medical Clinic where in addition to patient care she teaches classes on diabetes, hypertension and wellness. Kathy has 35 plus years of military and civilian nursing experience. She entered the US Army in 1988 and graduated from Army EMT school . She was assigned to Bad Kissingen, Germany where she worked in the military Family Medical Clinic, from 1988-1993. She later attended the Army School of Nursing at Ft. Sam Houston Texas. After graduating nursing school, she received orders to return to Washington DC and served at The Walter Reed Army Hospital on Georgia Ave. While there she was assigned to the Labor and Delivery Ward, OB/GYN Clinic and Internal Medicine Clinic. In 2011, she was assigned to work at Walter Reed Bethesda at the Family Medicine Clinic. In addition to her duties at Ft. Belvior, she currently does pediatric home care and is an active member on the Ft. Washington Health and Rehabilitation Center Family Council. There she helps patients and families with their inquires on health and wellness.
